Depending on your editorial needs – about which we can discuss, even if you are not completely settled – I can offer any one or more of the following:
Read and evaluate your manuscript
giving an overall assessment of what I find works and possibly does not.
Provide you with a developmental edit
with regard to structure, story and character, points of view, themes, pacing and overall tone, together with a detailed editorial letter.
Provide you with a line edit
taking your manuscript line by line and polishing the prose to ensure it reads unlabored. This might include, but is not limited to, tightening baggy sentences, identifying redundancies and repetitions and unclear phrasing, suggesting word choices, and catching any grammatical or punctuational hiccups.
Take your raw manuscript
and work with you on a complete rewrite.
Assist you with your non-fiction proposal
from complete conceptualization (overview, outline, chapter samples, competitive market analysis) to editing to ghostwriting.
Help you formulate the pitch for your query letter
to prospective agents and/or publishers so that they might see why your work deserves to be published!
Answer any questions
about the publishing process as well as to help you with identifying possible agents or publishers who might be a good fit for your work.
Advise you about self-publishing your book
weeding through the myriad of self-publishers, and what you might expect.
Offer a quantum of continued support
even after our work is done; I’m happy to field questions or just cheer you on as you continue to move your book closer to finding a home.
